ATLANTIC SALMON

Salmon is an excellent source of high quality protein, Vitamin B complex, Vitamin D and selenium. It is a good source of omega-3 fatty acids, phosphorus, choline and potassium.

High in omega-3 fatty acids, salmon keeps your dog’s coat healthy and shiny, as well as supports your dog’s immune system and cardiovascular health.

PASTA

The benefits of feeding your dog pasta is lower risk of intestinal disorders, hypertension and diabetes. We use durum wheat pasta which contains four kinds of protein: albumins, globulins, gliadins and glutenins, is very low in saturated fats, cholesterol and sodium.

They are excellent sources of slow-releasing energy and usually result in a visible elevation of mood in dogs.

BROCCOLI

Broccoli has a concentration of Vitamins A, C, and K, folate and fibre which make this vegetable a superfood. Broccoli is also a cooling food which gives it additional anti-inflammatory properties.

CARROT

Carrots are full of antioxidants and are one of the richest sources of beta-carotene. They are a very good source of Vitamins A, C and K, potassium, iron and manganese.

SPINACH

Spinach is an excellent source of Vitamins A, B complex, C, K, magnesium, manganese, iron, calcium and potassium. It is high in protein, fibre, phosphorus, Vitamin E, zinc and copper. It is also a good source of beta-carotene, selenium and omega-3 fatty acids.

Spinach is particularly good for dogs who need to ward off inflammatory and cardiovascular problems.

ORGANIC VIRGIN COCONUT OIL

Coconut oil contains a lot of medium chain fatty acids (MCFAs) including lauric acid, which is a fabulous immune builder. It gently elevates the metabolism, provides a higher level of energy and vitality, protects your dog from illness and speeds healing.

It also helps to reduce allergic reactions, disinfect cuts and wounds and soothe cracked pads. Coconut oil is the perfect ingredient for your furry’s skin and coat.

*These recommendations are for guidance only. Every dog has different calorie requirements.

If your furry is overweight or inactive, these estimates may be too high.

Always monitor your furry’s weight and adjust the feeding amount accordingly.

The time required to move your dog from commercial dog food to fresh, high quality Furry’s Kitchen can vary depending on the age and sensitivity of your dog, but in general it takes about 5-10 days.

An Average Transition

Think of this transition as a detox. For many dogs it will be the first introduction to preservative-free whole food. As a rule of thumb, go slow, as there is no need to rush the transition.

Once your dog has acclimated to Furry’s Kitchen you will probably notice significant improvements. Even “premium dog food” and “healthy dog food” brands contain a staggering volume of indigestible ingredients, preservatives, chemicals, etc.

What is the transition like for my dog?

Most dogs make the change very easily. Some dogs with more sensitive stomachs experience slight discomfort (loose stool, upset stomach) which is perfectly normal, so please do not worry. Simply scale back the percentage of Furry’s Kitchen to old food, and transit a bit slower. Nothing replaces the watchful eye of a loving pet parent, so if you have any questions please give us a call.

When my dog seems hungry for more food should I feed him more?

Dogs generally love food, and especially love our food. The feeding guidelines, like all feeding guidelines, are approximate and subject to a given dog’s age, activity level and metabolism. With that in mind, begging probably has more to do with loving the food than needing the nutrients. If he begins to lose or gain unexpected weight, simply adjust the amount incrementally until his weight stabilises.
